Jayátu Special Online Events
May 21st-22nd – Jayátu performing at the GreenLife EcoFest – A Northern California Zero Waste Event
The weekend of May 21st-22nd marks the official launch of the Jayátu Storytelling Community!
To celebrate this launch Jayatu will be performing Jean Giono’s classic ‘The Man Who Planted Trees’ and other great stories to an audience of folks who are coming to learn, share, and celebrate sustainable living projects, programs, and initiatives.
It is not often that a community like this comes along online. Very rare indeed to come across a storytelling community in which you can participate at your own leisure. You can discuss the stories with others, develop your own, and upload your own stories.
Never before in history has the need for a return to the oral tradition been so poignant. In times of great transition in history, it has always been those with an appreciation and understanding of stories that can have the context to guide their friends, families, and communities through the darkness of the night to a new dawn.

ayátu Online Debut Winter Tale Invitation
Since I was a young boy I have always loved stories. Even before I was formally educated in the art of storytelling and the oral tradition and began to understand the much deeper implications of using storytelling to educate and transform, I sensed the great power that stories held in their ability to convey universal concepts that everyone can understand, and to take the simple, clear lessons of nature to learn about our own journey through the world.
For many years as I used stories as an educational device for schools and organizations across the nation, I received many requests for CD’s of my stories so they could be enjoyed and shared more easily by the many people who felt deeply impacted by them. Despite the best of intentions, the demands of a full time storytelling career left me with very little time to stay in one place, let alone organize and compile these stories in a shareable format.
To celebrate this momentous occasion for myself and all the fans of Jayatu’s tales out there, I am inviting you to a private online storytelling event starting this Winter Solstice-December 21st and available till January 6th where you can watch and listen to a story from my own childhood that I am calling ‘The Big Jump’. It was the day I learned through a fearless hero named Bobby about the true spirit of Christmas.
